     There are two great beaches that are part of the State park system on Long Island. They are Jones Beach State Park and Robert Moses State Park. Jones Beach was built by master planner, Robert Moses in 1929 and is the largest public beach on Long Island. It is also the closest one to Manhattan making it an ideal destination for those who want to get out of the city for the day. It also has a 15,000 seat theatre where summer concerts play too. Robert Moses State park is smaller than Jones and less crowded. It does not have the theatre or the boardwalk that Jones has and also three miles less of beach. The well known Fire Island lighthouse is located in this park as well.
     Another great beach on Long Island is known as Fire Island and is a 32 mile long island with many different beach communities and the gorgeous Fire Island national seashore. There are homes, rental cottages and hotels as well as shopping, restaurants and live music to make it a favorite vacation destination. This is regularly voted as a favorite of all of the beach communities in Long Island for its beaches, charm and overall feel.
     The last beach is Montauk Point and is actually considered part of The Hamptons but has a totally different feel. It is a very quiet area with rocky beaches that make it a favorite fishing area and one of the best on the East Coast. The Montauk Point Lighthouse is over 200 years old and was built in 1797 by George Washington and is a great thing to visit.
