Car Hire in Majorca for Your Majorca Holiday

Car hire in Majorca can be easily arranged before you arrive at Palma Airport in Majorca. Then all you have to do is collect your car from the rental desk at the airport and drive to your holiday resort. If you are staying in Palma then it will only take about 20 minutes to drive.

Cheap Car Rental Mallorca

Having a car in Majorca makes all the difference to your Majorca holidays. The beautiful landscapes and wonderful seashores and coastal scenery is amazing so it is definitely worth investing in a cheap car hire in Majorca.

You can stop whenever you really feel like it and have a drink or meal at one of the local Majorcan restaurants or cafes or just enjoy the views. There are many lovely hotels where you can book in for the night and really enjoy this magical island.

Coastal Roads in Majorca

The coastal road from Deia to Soller is one of the most wonderful and also the most dramatic. We made the decision not to drive to Soller but took the bus which stops at Valldemossa and then Deia. Both are strikingly lovely villages and the first is home to the Hollywood actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zita Jones.

Chopin also paid a short visit to Valldemossa with his lover George Sands and the poet Robert Graves lived in Deai for many years. He held exciting parties for his Hollywood and poet friends in his village home in the hilltop village of Deia overlooking the Mediterranean sea.

From Deia you can take a double-decker coach to Soller but you can also drive. There are quite a few hair-raising hairpin bends along the mountainous north-west coast which a lot of drivers might not like. Traveling on a coach gives amazing views but when on top of a coach they can be quite terrifying so not for those who hate heights.

For many years people had no choice but to take this route and even though quite wonderful, it is quite scary. So should you not like heights just take the direct route via the mountains from Palma to Soller either by driving, on the bus or with the beautiful Soller Train. This lovely vintage train takes one hour from Palma to Soller and is often the highlight of many holidays in Majorca.

Driving in Palma

Driving in the capital of Majorca is like driving in any other busy city in the world. The streets are narrow and full of traffic so you may have difficulty parking. Parc de la Mar on the Paseo Maritimo is a good place to park as it is close to the famous Palma Cathedral (La Seu) and the stunning Almudena Palace. Both are lovely places to visit as is the rest of Palma.

The guidelines and regulations for driving in Majorca are the same as in the rest of Spain. You drive on the right, seat belts are compulsory and youngsters under 10 travel in the back seat.
